Open Science Learning GATE

Welcome to the GATE Service

We're excited to have you join the GATE! We believe Open Science is the future of research and knowledge dissemination, and your expertise helps to gain evidence-based insights into guiding thoughts and practices shaping Open Science. This will sharpen our common understanding and support capacity building in all areas of the research ecosystem.

About the GATE Service

The GATE Service is a key part of the Open Science Learning GATE initiative. Through a questionnaire, we collect information on guiding thoughts and practices in Open Science that knowledge creators address in their (educational) material/content, such as e.g. leaflets, trainings, articles, reports, and guidelines. These evidence-based insights are shared back with the community in a structured and targeted way through notifications and the annual GATE Reports.

Who Can Participate?

We welcome all Open Science knowledge creators, including trainers, educators, authors, speakers and content developers who produce materials or content to inform and educate others about Open Science.

What is the “Service” in the GATE Service?

The GATE Service is more than a questionnaire. It encourages participants to reflect and update their content and offers recommendations for publishing. In detail, participants benefit from

  • Guidance on updating or optimising their materials/content for high-quality and long-term use (via the GATE Report)

  • Recognition as a contributor in the GATE Report

  • Visibility of their materials on the GATE website or via Report

  • Access to the GATE mailing list and a vibrant Open Science education community

In short: The GATE Service will help you to stay up to date and connect to the Open Science community. We engage with proactive knowledge creators who thrive for high quality without formal assessment.

Complete the questionnaire

Please complete the questionnaire step-by-step, review the guiding thoughts1 proposed by the community and self-reflect on your material/content2.

[1Guiding thoughts refer to foundational concepts (actions, processes, values etc.) serving as a framework for reliable Open Science practice. They are communicated to learners/followers/readers/listeners via your educational material/content supporting your audience's understanding of Open Science practice.]

[2Educational material is all material that has been intentionally developed to teach/educate/train/inform a specific target group. This also includes articles, reports, leaflets/posters, as well as courses, and learning sessions.]
